A nice nose of dark fruit, vanilla, and some graphite. Generally a good structure to this, although slightly off on the acidity, yet has sweet prevalent tannins. Flavors of dark cherry, anise and some tobacco. A straightforward wine, but quite good overall, and although I did not have the ’03, based on those reviews, this ’05 seems a much improved effort.

Although 76% Cab, the wine is a blend with Merlot, Cab Franc & Malbec. Drank at steak dinner with friends. It was the second wine after the 2004 Atalon Cabernet. Very good, but I thought it was more tannic and slightly less balanced than the Atalon. I think it should be cellared for 2+ years to allow it to mature. I think it's a good value and will buy a few more to put away.
