My first Barbaresco (at least that I remember), so take this for what it is. Decanted 1hr+. Better with food. Interesting aroma - very mushroomy. Like hanging out in Kennett Square. Taste also very heavy on the earth. Not much fruit at all - maybe a bit of tart berries. Some acidity, but not a whole lot of tannin. Body seemed lighter than the 14% abv on the bottle. Though this is an interesting wine up front, the finish really disappoints. Just nothing to it - fades away almost instantaneously. Interesting to try but I don't think I'd buy again at $20.

Ahh the Kennett Square reference may be lost on most of the Contributors and Registered Users from Western PA. Not many of us Easterners here.

In that case, here's a fun fact that all PA residents can be proud of: 65% of all mushrooms consumed in the US are grown in Chester County.

My son is playing baseball in Kennett Square tomorrow. He's complaining about the fresh scent of the "terroir". I'm on my way to sell fine wine and good spirits in Chester County this afternoon-evening. The Rizzi Barbaresco is selling at a decent pace, 6-8 cases remaining.
