A sumptuous wine. Agree with the WS review, noting black cherry & earth flavors, but I would add a smoldering, smoky element to the profile. Elegant & quite smooth already, but this will be rewarded with time. I would recommend grabbing a couple to lay down.

From my local store: "Due to National Pricing issues we have renegotiated with the vendor for the price of Maison Louis Latour Gevrey-Chambertin 2012, from $49.99 down to $39.99."

I had thought this would need several years before coming around but it was surprisingly pleasant now. Aromas jumped out of the bottle as soon as the cork was pulled - actually reminded me of Welch's grape juice, but thankfully the wine itself wasn't at all sweet. I decanted it for several hours and there was no sediment whatsoever. Some folks I shared this with claim to only like Latour whites but they were also pleasantly surprised. Someone on CT said "Would be a shame not to have a case sitting around in 10 years." If you have the money and the space, why not? Giving it a 4- today, would almost certainly be higher with some cellar time.

Yes why not buy a case; I just did :)

Oh sure, what with Mrs. Bigred's big career step, you have case money to throw around!

Loved the nose but I didn't get much earthiness there or the palate. Pretty elegant now for a wine so young. Perhaps there will be more complexity over time. Great finish too. Not in the market for a case but at $32 I might have to pick some up for the Burghounds who visit.
