Best Wal-Mart Wine?

We had an idea for a podcast episode, which was going to be "The most expensive wine you can buy at Wal-Mart (specifically, the Highlands Wal-Mart right over the Pa-WV border), and ended up being a faceoff between a "standard" Aussie Shiraz and the cheapest Syrah at Wal-Mart. www.eastcoastwinegeeks.com

The wife's article for examiner this week is a comparison of commonly found wines at both the PA Wine and Spirits stores and at Wal-Mart. The result was unexpected.

Anyone else have any experience buying similar wines both in-state and out of state?

If i were to engage in illegal (albeit unenforced) wine import, i would not discuss it on a public bulletin board. Just sayin'

Um, yes. I assure you we purchased the wines in PA, and went to West Virginia merely for cost comparison.
