NHL Winter Classic Cabernet

Bought this last year and it was really a great wine for $40! Saw it on a FWAGS update a few days ago and then found it in my store. There are not a lot of Miner Family wines available for $40, and I think the juice is of the same quality as the rest of their wines despite the collector or novelty value.

Miner Family NHL Winter Classic
Cabernet 2009

"The National Hockey League has commissioned Miner Family Winery to produce this limited edition Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, exclusively for the 2012 Winter Classic in Philadelphia. This quintessential Cabernet boasts flavors of black cherry fruit, hints of tobacco-spice and offers a smooth, beautiful finish. In addition to being an excellent Napa Valley wine, it helps to support an excellent cause. A portion of the proceeds are donated to Hockey Fights Cancer, a joint initiative founded by the NHL and the NHL Players' Association to raise money and awareness for local cancer research institutions, Children's Hospitals, player charities and local cancer oranizations."

Featuring the Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Rangers

Year: 2009
Size: 750ML
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
Product Code: 36381

I agree with Zippy? I toured and tasted at Miner 2 years ago and thought all their wine was very good. And yes $40 is a decent buy for Miner? If you are a Syrah fan, keep an eye out for La Diligence too, just not in PA.
