Must be the "new" software.

Looks like PLCB is getting ready for a new sale online.

If you can find them in retail stores, the prices should be good, but I would be surprised if the online site has them available until the sale starts.

Zippy you're definitely on to something. There have been many instances in the past of wines being removed from the Current Chairman's List only to resurface later, sometimes as soon as the next day, as yesterday's automatic notification e-mail shows. However we haven't been smart or astute enough to re-check the prices when this happens, we just re-print the price we already have. We'll look into making that fix.

In the meantime some quick checking shows a much broader selection of wines with new sale prices than just the list above. We'll be publishing a list hopefully later today.

Anyone know anything about the Vine Cliffs or Rush cabs? Not much info on CT or the web in general.

I'm sure they are gearing up for another On-line sale. The wines won't be available on the web site until they decide to pull the trigger. Furthermore, when they have these sales, all the stores are supposed to send their inventory back to the main warehouse. Some stores are still showing inventory, so I don't think any of the quantities shown can be trusted (or maybe they haven't sent them back...yet)

I've seen some of the other wines which were to be discounted and show "0" quantity anywhere!!

I had the '99 Vine Cliff Oakville Cab, I thought it was pretty good for $20 but not necessarily anything to write home about.

It was odd, "the price" was supposed to be $29.99 but I was given a heads up by the premium buyer at a store who said he had a several bottles for $19.99 but it was about to go up to $29.99. He didn't know why. He offered me the 4 or 5 bottles that he had and I think I offended him when I only took one, having never heard of it. In hindsight I should've taken a couple more (but I haven't lost any sleep over it).

This may have something to do with another thread I just started: I've heard there was an ad in the Inquirer for "an auction of Chairman Selections wines". It would make sense that it would work somewhat like the last sales, where they gather up the wine and then sell it online...

I used the site's fabulous – thanks admin! resource - the wine availability map" to check on a couple of the wines in the original post to this thread. Saw that both the Rush and the Cliff Vine were supposedly available at the Washington Mall Outlet store. So I took a chance and drove down there after I left work. Sure enough, they had both prominently displayed in the front of the store with the original Chairman's signage with the original price marked through. Not only did they have the Rush ($9.99) and Cliff Vine ($17.99), I also saw the Dutton Goldfield Chardonnay Dutton Ranch 2006 ($12.99). (They have less of all of these now)

I struck up a conversation with the store manager and he indicated that these wines had just come in over the last few days.

Don't know how all of this fits in with the other theories in the thread, but at least for these wines it would appear that some attempt was made to ship remaining stock to the "outlet" stores. BTW - they had over 500 bottles on the Rush and 50 of the Cliff Vine.

OK... All Chairman's Selections -- past and present -- that are showing a new Sale Price on the LCB web site are listed here, with any previous or original prices for comparison.

We did not get this list from anyone at the PLCB and it should not be construed as official. It's more of a "heads up."

We have no information as to if/when these wines will be available in significant quantities. We do know that at least some of them were "called back" from stores to the online store warehouse, and therefore assume that there will be an online sale sometime in the near future. No idea as to when.

And lastly to Capaneus' point, we have no information regarding the possibility of an auction. If anyone comes across an ad please post it. But presumably time will tell.

Interesting - I checked several of these. Found several where Product Search indicated that there is stock on the web store, but a search of the web store didn't find them.

Don't know whether or not most of the list was snatched up by insomniac oenophiles at midnight but there were only 21 wines available when I got the alert this AM. Still picked up a half dozen bargains. Chateau Laroque Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2005, Flora Springs Trilogy 2005, plus the $4.99 Luna Freakout (avoid parties at my house white drinkers!)

Most of the wines on the list weren't in inventory to start with!! btw... I stocked up in the Luna Pinot Grigio $4.99----summertime, and the livin's easy........

Yeah, there were only a total of thirty wines that made it to the online store. I was able to access stock by 8:30, and when I went back (at about the time the e-mail hit my inbox), they were down to twenty or so.

Trick is, there are small quantities of some items floating around in stores...

I got a little wood over the Rubicon Cask '04 number but the only available is in the Ardmore store. Didn't know which side of PA's #2 city you lived on but if Ardmore is w/in commute the Cask is worth the effort at that price.

BTW does Sid Crosby have to carry Pronger back to Philly or is winning the dirty old hack another gold medal good enough?
