I just wanted to give a "shout out" for this Aussie wine, which I think is a great deal. Not on the Chairman's Selection, so I can't give it an official review.

Has anyone else had this –what are your impressions?

Longview Cabernet Sauvignon DEVILS ELBOW Adelaide Hills 2007
PLCB Code #: 22782
Size: 750ML
Price: $18.99

In my opinion, you don't often find a cab of this quality for $18.99. There are ratings posted for this wine at 90, 93 and 94. This wine is well stocked across the state.

I'd rate this a solid 4, and describe as such: Deep purple in color; almost black. Aromas of cassis, graphite, and mint. Flavors of dark cherry, chocolate, & currant. A velvety texture, some elegant qualities; solid tannins, and has good aging potential. The QPR on this equates to stock up to make an everyday wine!

Took you up and bought a bottle today. I'll take it to dinner tomorrow night and post my notes.

Agree with you Bigred - top notch Cab at this price point. Opened last night and after 30 minutes or so it began to shine. Rich and thick with lots of dark fruit and cassis. A found a touch of sour cherry after the initial attack. Satisfying finish with solid tannins.

Would like to try it next to a couple of the new domestic Chairman's cabs - the Napa Cellars Stagecoach and the Emblem Cabernet Sauvignon Oso Vineyard.

Thanks for the tip!

Great QPR. Subdued by Aussie standards but really drinkable. Cherry nose, a little tart at first so definitely decant. Cherries, spice, cedar & vanilla. Well balanced between the fruit & the oak. Almost no earth for those who like terroir with their wine.

Certainly a 3+ or 4- effort. Good call the bigred
