Here are two wines I think are interesting and a good value.

Clos La Coutale Cahors-
@ $14. It's a Southwest France Malbec but also has some bordeaux characteristics. Old world ,rich and sweet flavors, some earthiness and tobacco, low acidity but nice tannins that provide a decent finish although a little powdery. One of my favorite lables too.

2007 Irony Cabernet Napa Valley--
This wine is $14 but often on sale for $12. Great value here, nice cab flavors, cassis, black currants, nice acidity and decent finish although just a tad of that artificial flavor, still a great value.

Just got the Wine Library TV e-mail - Vaynerchuk has a short, one wine episode today on the Coutale. He speaks highly of the wine and the region - interesting stuff. He tasted the 2008, which is SLO only at this point. With J2K, ecola and Vaynerchuk recommending it, I will have to go get some...

I agree with them also. I grab up a couple every time it hits the state. They used to blend Tannant in it years ago. Know it is usually Merlot used in blending.
