2017 July Luxury Clearance

As pointed out by jlburd in the What are you drinking thread ( a bunch of luxury items were put on clearance a little while ago. No announcement and apparently no single/easily accessible list of items.

(Sure they're listed on FWaGS, but you can only display a handful at a time, it's not easily searchable, etc.)

It took a little doing but here is a list of remaining items as of yesterday. More items were originally put on sale but have since sold out. Everything is basically 40% off. Mostly in-store but some also online. Quantities are limited.

The receipt for something I bought last weekend says "July Luxury Clearance" but also included among the sale/clearance items are some old Chairman's, some spirits, and also some non-Luxury items. Yellow Tail Merlot Reserve anyone?

Thanks Admin. I noticed some of these popping up here and there in the stores. Some pretty good deals out there, but as you note availability pretty thin.

Never buy the Yellow Tail Reserve! It's just a marketing ploy like Caymus Special Select. Stick with the estate Merlot.

The Domaine Terlato Chapoutier Malakoff Shiraz Pyrenees 2009 (46537) is worth every penny of the reduced price of $24.04. Resembles northern Rhone much more than Australia.

Chateau Gruaud Larose 2001 (#45214) for $70 is terrific. Found a stash in the cooler at McIntyre Square (store 277). Initially bought 2. Drank 1, then went back and got 2 more. FWaGS says there are still 3 at that store, I only saw 1 but the other 2 could easily be hiding behind something else. Plus a handful of other stores have a little.

Probably at or near its peak, really soft and smooth, earthy but hasn't lost its fruit. Glad they're clearing out the old stuff!

Flegenheimer Reserve Red (46617) is completely unlike the CS wine from a year or so ago. A Syrah and Petitie Sirah bruiser clocking in at 15.9%. Big fruit and a touch of heat that blows off. When you want some wine but need a drink, this works...
