The price is finalized. $75 per person.
This includes blending seminar with Sparky Marquis for about an hour. We will attempt to blend a two left feet look alike.
Then dinner will be served. The menu is still being worked on but there will be one ounce pours of 09 Boxer, 2LF, Blue Eyed Boy, Gigglepot, Carnival of Love, Enchanted Path and Velvet Glove. After the dinner/tasting the rest of the bottles will be killed ;)
After party at my buddie's house too then it gets really crazy, Ill probably be opening another SQN.
I believe the starting gun is at 630 pm (might be 7). This is an hour and 45 minutes drive from Pitt. Hotels right across the main road.
If you are interested, I need a final count (you have to be ready to send a check) by 10 days from now. The quicker the better.
Disclaimer: Other than being buddies with the guy who owns the steak house and one of Mollydooker's spokes people, I have no stake in this event.

Alright guys, today is the day. Email me with confirmations. Checks will come to me, $75 per person. Made out to Montana's Steak and Chop House. There will actually be tickets issued which I will send you or hold for you, as you prefer. There will likely be an afterparty, but we are still working on that. After today I cant guarantee there will be slots open.

Stopped in the McIntyre Square store today and Loren had a huge smile on his face after attending last night. Apparently it was quite a time, and very well attended.

He took a bunch of bottles from his store and got them signed. He has them for sale -- same PLCB price I believe -- but you have to ask him.

It was a very well planned and attended tasting. Maybe we they will have them again next year. If they do I would recommend going. The wines were wonderful, and so was the food. You should stop by if you are close to Meadville and want a great meal. And the Velvet Glove is worth the $$$$$. The 2009 vintage is the last to be corked and waxed, the 2010 will be under screw cap.

It was at Montana's Rib and Chop house right off of Rt. 322 on Rt 19 S, approx. 150 yds on the right.

The notes:
[list][*]2002 Marquis Philips Shiraz Integrity - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Ripe nose of blackberries and horsehyde. Juicy, velvety palate with tons of heft, dark berries, flowers, and even some tobacco. This one is aging beautifully. Very long, seamless finish.

[*]2003 Lokoya Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain - USA, California, Napa Valley, Howell Mountain (9/28/2010)
Oily vanilla nose, didnt expect much of the palate...boy was I wrong. Beef, cassis, currants, chewy and grainy at once. Lots of tannins, still a baby. Very good though.

[*]2005 Marquis Philips Shiraz 9 - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Ripe, smoky nose. The palate is sweet and ripe with blueberries and smoke. Still tastes young, finishing tight.

[*]2006 Lillian Winery Syrah - USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Barbara County (9/28/2010)
Tight tight nose, not much of anything. The palate is thick with beef, chocolate and some dark fruits, but totally masked by the chocolate. As you might imagine, this was a pop and pour fest, and this wine needs a ton of air. Still very very young.

[*]2008 Carlisle Syrah Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (9/28/2010)
Really interesting nose. Some blueberry skin notes (not sweet) and a lot of raw beef. The palate also seems savory to me with some salinity and more raw beef. Doesnt taste like a Cali syrah to me, but I like it.

[*]2008 Loring Wine Company Divergence - USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles (9/28/2010)
The nose had a strong glue note at first. When I handed it to Sparky's mom she said within a second "it smells like glue!" Before I could tell her to let it breathe because I had literally just opened it, she tasted it and said "Oh wow! that is so sweet!" and smiled. The nose (after a little air) had strong cinnamon and baking spices components. Black pepper and ripe berries. The palate was huge, with awesome, sweet ripe blackberries, blueberries and plums. Obviously still very young, but man! the spices and fruits in this are delicious.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Cabernet Sauvignon Gigglepot - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek (9/28/2010)
Smells like cranberries and cream. Huge nose. Loads of currants and cranberries on the palate, big and juicy with an eternal finish. Very enjoyable if you like the style.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Enchanted Path - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Mostly smoky oak on the nose. Sweet, huge but soft palate full of cranberries, vanilla, raspberries. Long finish with great acid. I got no heat.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Merlot The Scooter - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Black pepper and ash on the nose with a hint of red fruits. Soft cherries and raspberries in the palate, too much acid for me.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Shiraz Blue Eyed Boy - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Sweat, oak and ripe plums in the nose. The palate is full of ripe blueberries and some oak. The mouthfeel is velvet. Long finish with great acid. Great party wine.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Shiraz Carnival of Love - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Big ripe nose of coffee and plums. The palate is huge and full of red and black berries, chocolate, a little smoke, plums. Some tannins at the end of the enormous finish. This is my favorite Carnival ever.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Shiraz The Boxer - Australia, South Australia, McLaren Vale / Padthaway (9/28/2010)
A bit of menthol and dark berries on the nose. The palate is tight! Mutted fruit and biting tannins. Couldnt make much of it.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Shiraz Velvet Glove - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Hmmm so this is the second time I disagree with everyone else at the table about this wine. And mind you, I think the 06 is the best wine Sparky ever made (he nodded when I asked what he thought of that since we drank some MP Integrity as well.) Sweet nose, with smoke and beef. The palate is full and sweet with lots of oak (too much at this point, thats right, even for me) with tons of dark fruits and some chocolate. Significant alcohol in the finish. I have found this off balance 2 out of 2 times so far. I think the COL is much better at this point.

[*]2009 Mollydooker Two Left Feet - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Surprisingly quiet nose with some barnyard and herbs. The palate is what I expected full of red and black fruits. Not an herbal trace at all. Some booze on the finish. As it tames and the nose develops this could be really good.

[*]2010 Mollydooker Verdelho The Violinist - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale (9/28/2010)
Citrusy and simple. I noted a little oak which surprised me.

[list][*]2009 Mollydooker Cabernet Sauvignon The Maitre D' - Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Langhorne Creek (9/28/2010)
A bit of vanilla in the nose with some bell pepper. Muted palate of dark fruits. Not much intensity. Some tannins present. Drinkable.

[*]2001 Jordan Vineyard & Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County - USA, California, Sonoma County (9/27/2010)
Soft nose of dark plums, currants and some spice. Medium bodied and seamless...a wine for people who enjoy more complexity than power, which is not me. Nice velvety finish with integrated tannins already. Day too it had fallen apart, so be warned.
