Bigred's Big Red Tasting (Pitt #67)

Call it nostalgia, a yearning, or, perhaps just a relapse. Whatever it is, it’s a craving for some substantial, well-crafted red wines as the season turns cooler. Past that, no restriction on the red varietal or region.

Who will join me??

Looking at dates of Sat Oct 20, or Fri/Sat Nov 2nd or 3rd. Please post your interest/availability. Venue is TBD, and will take suggestions, but it's got to include red meat options :)

I’m in! Any of those weekends would work for me, though I prefer Saturdays to Fridays.

The WineBoss and the RealBoss are both in. I think we told Bigred already but weren't sure of the date. Whew, the Fall is getting crowded!

It's been awhile since I've seen you all. I really look forward to it. I think I may be able to find a big red ;-0.

Very good, J2K

Here are the reds I am looking to bring:

2012 Carter Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon The O.G. Beckstoffer To-Kalon Vineyard
2010 L’Aventure Côte-à-Côte Estate (Red Rhone Blend)

Few more details:

We're on for this Sat at Cafe du Jour , 7:00

Couple extra people coming, Fred & Lori Roberts, so I have a reservation in for 13 but might only be 12. JLBurd, just yourself?

With the larger group, we've been asked to be served family style, so Mrs BigRed and me have made some selections.
I expect that the total per person will be around $50, which would include all food, gratuity, tax, and corkage.

Remember to bring cash

We have some starter wines coming.

Good idea to bring stemware as well.
I think that's it.

OK I’m doing a theme within the theme - Grenache! One from California and one from France. You’ll see what they are when we get there.

Anyone else interested in doing this blind to see if we can get within a mile of the varietal or anything else?

Just a quick shout out to Big Red for pulling together a great tasting. Thanks to Cafe du Jour for great food. There were some really good wines and not a single Pinot (except the sparkling wine).

Thanks JLburd, it was a fun night, and interesting to do blind.
