The PLCB is holding a sale to clear out stock from their wine club, the Wine Connection. Click on Wine Connection icon on the right side of the site, then pick Connection Selections from the menu on the left.

At a (very) quick glance, there appear to be some very decent deals at the lower end, especially whites.

The Remy Pannier Vouvray and Nicolas Joly Les Clos Sacres look worth a gamble. Have you tried them or thinking of others?

Those two were very interesting - and, a bit upmarket, the Foreau demi-sec looked good as well. Generally, there were a number of Loires, white and red, that look like they might be fun.

There was also a *really* inexpensive SA chenin blanc that I've heard good things about (that would be the $7 Raats, though, at five bucks, I wouldn't mind trying the Kanu) and a few others, like the Au Bon Climat Pinot Blanc/Pinot Gris blend. Unfortunately, I'm way too stocked up to consider ordering enough to make it to $200. Wouldn't have minded putting together a case or so of assorted things, though.

Oh, well. Maybe some of this stuff will still be around when I've drunk down some of my backlog.

I wish they would list the original price or show how much the prices have been discounted. I'm not familiar with 90% of these wines and have no idea if these are good prices or not. As an example I looked into the Elizabeth Spencer Chard and Pinot and on the winery's web site they are listed for $35 and $40 respectively so I guess $19.99 is a deal. But I'm not about to do this for every wine shown...

When I hit something like that, I just usually open Wine Searcher on another tab, then clip-and-paste, and voila. I haven't really done it this time around, but the stuff I was roughly familiar with seemed good deals, so I'd think it's probably okay to go on that assumption as you're browsing, then, when you hit an item of specific interest, do a closer inspection.

So far, my concerns with these online sales has been whether the wine is something I *want* in the first place (which eliminates a lot), and then a gnawing worry about condition. No problems yet, glad to report.

Try the following link to an email I received advertising the original price, discounted price, and ratings.
