After my experience in the Cranberry store a couple weeks ago I think it's money well spent!

I just watched that on the news. The KDKA reporter said "why are they spending this money if they don't need to worry about competition?"

What happened at Cranberry? I go there once a week and have not had a problem.

I saw this article in our local paper as well.

It cracked me up!

Long story, but the short version is...the printer attached to the register where they were ringing my order was not working. They either couldn't or wouldn't cancel the order out and move to the next register over (which was open and ringing up everyone else since my line was no longer moving). After 15 minutes of standing around with no progress or reassurances I blew a gasket. I was loud and made a scene, but I did not swear or degrade anyone. The store manager in the office put the phone down long enough to shout across the store at me "Quiet down or leave!" All I wanted was to be rung up on the next register, or at the very least a "Sorry please bear with us, we're working on it." Eventually I left in disgust. They still have the case of wine being held in my name, and they haven't bothered to call and ask when or if I'm going to go back and pick it up (still haven't paid for it).

I doubt there is anything that will change soon but this should be the last straw for citizens looking for accountability from the state. I'm going to pass this story along to friends with a link to the state rep page. Maybe if a bunch of people start hammering regularly somebody will pay attention. My guess is that PLCB is the only PA agency that has positive YOY results (other than gambling). If there was ever an economic time for "ain't broke, don't fix it" now is it. So why spend $$ to upgrade a system that's growing revenue when the state is upside down?

The easy fix: if you're at all related to a state exempt employee you can't get a contract with the state - bid or otherwise.

The hard fix: get the state out of the liquor biz or free it up to compete like they seem to be saying in this article.

Send the article, write your legislators & tell them to vote your way or get un-elected. Remind them what it felt like after the pay raise in 2005!

Auditor General has said contract was legal, but LCB exercised "poor judgement"...
