Notifications and stuff

A few folks have sent feedback regarding the notification of updates to the Chairman's Selection lists which go out whenever there are changes. Generally, the notification works well. From time to time however there are irregularities in the lists posted on the LCB web site, and then we effectively echo the same thing.

For example, when a wine is being removed from the list of "Chairman's Selection™ Now In Stores," several times in the past a particular wine has been removed one day, added back the next day, and then removed again the day after (usually for good). When this happens it gets included in the notification 3 days in a row, but until the LCB stops changing it back and forth on their site there's nothing we can do unfortunately.

Another thing that happens from time to time is the LCB reuses one of their 5-digit code #s which we are tracking, and we confuse the new wine with the old one from a year or two ago. We're working on a once-and-for-all solution but it's a lot of behind the scenes work and ask for your patience in the interim.

Also, sometimes there are simply errors: wines that aren't Chairman's Selections but get listed as such, wrong code #s posted which point you to a completely different wine, or whatever. Usually those errors get corrected within a day or two. But if you notice something peculiar for longer than that please bring it to our attention so we can investigate.

Lastly, a quick welcome to everyone who has found us in the last month, thanks largely to Elizabeth Downer's article in the Post-Gazette (http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/09162/976388-389.stm). Please feel free to post any questions you may have, and we look forward to your opinions and suggestions regarding wine or this site in general.

Thanks
