Totally agree re: both sites.
I am encouraged that at least they're
trying to improve the
www.lcb.state.pa.us site. Much appreciated is the use of both upper and lowercase letters in the wine names (is that cutting edge or what??), and the inclusion of additional info in the search results. And while "Specific Type" entries such as a Syrah being called "RED TABLE WINE - OTHER (CA)" is laughable, again, at least they're including the field...presumably they can populate it with more useful information later. Some licensees will appreciate the "Vendor Number" field being included in the SLO results, assuming they get a magic decoder ring to map the number to an actual distributor.
Sadly they still have a long long way to go. If you want a really good laugh (or cry), search for code 20359...if you were looking for a "chateauneuf" you would never find it...also I didn't know chateauneuf-du-papes were from burgundy! Note to southern rhone fans: if you aren't doing a search on the improbable "c-d-p" you're probably missing out on some wines.
Like these.
I still would like to be able to vary the number of results shown on one page rather than it being fixed on 25. And dwinfield you hit the nail on the head, the search forcing you to select "Regular" OR "Luxury" but not both is a big step backwards...my most common way to search previously was to include everything EXCEPT SLO which I can't do any more, so now in the results I have to sift through all the SLO stuff which I'm not interested in. And yes being able to search within a specific store would be huge.
Oh well...
