Last week HB 2165 was introduced before the House Liquor Committee. The bill would require that all shipping of wine to PA residents go through the PLCB state store system, which means we [local PA-based Winery] would lose our ability to ship directly to our customers. It also reduces the amount of wine a PA Limited Winery can make from 200,000 gallons down to 80,000 gallons – less than Chaddsford Winery has made in recent vintages! These and other provisions of the bill would deeply damage not only Chaddsford but an industry that most other states are trying to encourage, an industry that is already contributing $700 million to the state's economy (see "Vintage 2012" for more info). Please help support the 114 farm wineries of PA who keep farm land green, play an ever-increasing role in the state's tourism business, and bring pleasure to a great many people like you. Contact your PA representatives and tell them this bill needs to be soundly rejected! See HB 2165 in full

The US Supreme Court has already ruled that a state can't treat in- and out-of-state wineries differently; either they all get to ship to your door or none of them do. From the looks of this it seems like rather than open shipping up for both they instead propose to shut it down for both. For that reason alone I'm not too excited about this proposal.
If you want to contact your local representative and give them your opinion you can find out who he/she is and their contact info here:
