Buyer Beware

I recently placed an on-line order and received the wrong vintage of one of the wines. I ordered the Boutari Fantaxometocho 2005, and received the 2003. When I contacted the PLCB via e-mail I was informed that it was an error in listing the vintage on the website and should have said 2003. I was told they do not have the 2005 and to return the bottle to a store to receive a refund. The 2003 is already the color of an aged Sauturnes so I'm sure it is not what it once was. I ordered this a week ago and the web-site has yet to be updated with the correct information. Just a warning to watch what you order.

Update-3/11 The correct vintage is now on the website.
It is the principle that bothers me with this. The PLCB says they cannot get the 2005, but I can find it on at least three other websites. However, I cannot get it shipped to me. If this was any other type of business I would find another store to shop from, but as everyone knows we must buy our juice from Big Brother.

I hear you. At least they have corrected the error.

One thing I'll say is that just because it's available on other web sites doesn't mean the PLCB should necessarily be able to get it. The stores that have it may have placed their orders a while ago and the distributor could have since sold out. But it does still hurt when you can see it and almost taste it but are not legally allowed to buy it, while people living in other states can. Nothing new there.
