Online sales promo

The PLCB is running a promotion this Monday-Wednesday. The deal is, if you spend $50 on FWaGS then they'll give you a $10 gift card that's redeemable in store only. The $50 total must be before tax or shipping to qualify, and it's not good for special order items or licensee purchases.

I got a flyer for this in a store. There is nothing about it on FWaGS that I can see.

I thought it might be a nice little deal, then remembered about shipping charges. FWaGS shipping rates are:

Ship to home:
1-3 bottles $14.00 Flat Fee
$1.00 extra for each additional bottle over 3.

For example:
4 bottles $15.00
8 bottles $19.00
12 bottles $23.00

Ship to Store:
1-3 bottles $7.00 Flat Fee
$1.00 extra for each additional bottle over 3.

For example:
4 bottles $8.00
8 bottles $12.00
12 bottles $16.00

Compare that to buying in a store. Say you choose two bottles for $29.99 each, you'll pay $59.98 + $7 to have it shipped to a store (plus sales tax which you pay either way), and you get a $10 gift card. So it's really only $3 off. And if your order is for more bottles, say, 6 bottles at $9.99 each, then the shipping eats up the whole gift card and you come out even.

Now - if there's a special bottle that's more than $50 and it's available online only, then you'll come out ahead.

Curious to hear what others think of this deal.

What's the point? Special order excluded, so unless something is out of driving range there's no real incentive. If it's a special bottle as you mention, not sure I would trust the storage and handling capabilities of PA unless it's recent. Free shipping would probably be a more compelling incentive.
