Wine accessories at bed bath & beyond

jlburd mentioned to me in passing that he picked up a Vinturi aerator at Bed Bath & Beyond using one of their ubiquitous 20% off coupons to get the price down to ~$32. It never would have occurred to me to look there for such things. So I went but got sidetracked by a Wine Enthusiast Visual Decanter (this one) on clearance for $19.99 (regularly $59.99). They had a few other Wine Enthusiast things on clearance (stems, etc) and have a reasonable selection of accessories considering that they aren't a wine shop. Anyway just wanted to pass it along.

(And now of course, doing a google search turns up www.winestuff.com -- never shopped there -- listing the Vinturi on sale for $29.99, not sure about shipping.)

Any other good stores to find accessories on the cheap?

We should work on a wine get together where we taste the same wine (blindly) with and without use of the Vinturi. It would be interesting to see if it makes that big of a difference.

We find wine related accessories at TJ Maxx and Marshalls on occasion. It can be hit and miss and quantities are limited.

We took the Vinturi to friends as a gift & 3 of the 4 of us noticed an immediate difference (I was the 4th). The best I could sense was that it took a little of the heat off of a young Tuscan that was 14.5% & beyond that I attributed to either my diminished senses or their susceptibility to suggestion. The big hit of the gift was actually the sound it makes. The aerator appears to use the change in pressure as the liquid moves from a convex to a concave (or vice versa) chamber through a small opening. Whatever the science is, the gurgling sound amused the women in the group.

BB&B also has a fair selection of dishwasher safe wine glasses for $16 (after 20% off) per dozen. You won't impress the snobby Reidel-lovin' in-laws but after a party & hours of drinking you won't be hand drying a dozen crystal goblets at midnight either!

If you want good wine glasses but not at Reidel prices I recommend the Schott Zweisel-Forte line. They are not super cheap but fantastic glasses for much less than Reidel. I got mine at Sur La Table in the Southside works for @ $12 a piece.
