Dining Deal

The better half and I had dinner last night at The Carlton downtown, before a cultural event of her picking. I was amazed to find both the '06 and '07 Caymus Special Selection Cabs at $149.99 on their wine list. The PLCB shows the '06 in inventroy at that same price. Mistake or not on The Carlton's part - I reduced their inventory of the '06 by a bottle.

Not a mistake - I had the same wine in Jan. Kevin Joyce seems committed to giving his diners a chance to have good wine with dinner, making his money on the discount from distribution only. From what I have seen all the Carlton's wine over $50 is right at the PLCB number, definitely the higher end stuff.

The Caymus was pretty nice wasn't it? Imagine once it gets its legs under it in 3-5 years.
