From what PA bought & sold from EOS this is no great loss. Their chardonnay was the worst glass of wine I have consumed in the past decade.

I can't view this as a bad thing. An awful lot of wineries prospered since the last recession without having to compete hard for their space & wine prices reflected the same lack of proportion that housing did in many markets. The market will eventually tell how many wineries should survive. The bad scenarios will be the good winemakers who just picked the wrong time (say 2007 or 2008) to leverage their assets to reinvest. There does appear to be a fair number of those situations in Cal. but I hope the better wineries can ride it out

As long as the good vineyards don't get uprooted - and there's little chance of that - the wine will find its way to my greedy gullet, whatever the label on the bottle.

Agreed that EOS isn't worth mourning, but good wineries, like Havens, are also in a world of hurt. And the bloodbath has barely begun.
